Majchrzak, 29, is currently ranked 109th in the world after returning from a 13-month suspension imposed in 2022, when anti-doping authorities ruled he had ingested banned substances unintentionally. Despite losing all his ranking points, he has rebuilt his standing since early 2024.

The Pole has impressed this week in London, notably defeating Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, seeded No. 32, in a five-set battle. His opponent, Rinderknech - ranked 72nd - produced an even bigger upset by eliminating world No. 3 Alexander Zverev.

Friday’s match will be their first meeting and is scheduled as the third contest of the day on Court 12, likely starting around 4:30 p.m. local time.

If Majchrzak wins, it will mark his best result at a Grand Slam, surpassing his previous third-round appearance at the 2019 US Open.

After his surprising winning streak at Wimbledon, Majchrzak, who comes from Piotrków Trybunalski in central Poland, told Polish Radio that he had “built something out of nothing” by staying in the flow and not getting in his own way.
