The 29-year-old defeated the 72nd-ranked Frenchman 6-3, 7-6, 7-6 in the third round of the men's singles at the grass-court Grand Slam in the British capital.

The victory marked the first time Majchrzak has reached the last 16 at Wimbledon—or the fourth round of any Grand Slam tournament.

Majchrzak, currently ranked No. 109 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), will next face Russia's Karen Khachanov for a place in the quarterfinals.

He is the only Polish player remaining in the men's singles after No. 39 Hubert Hurkacz withdrew from the tournament before it began.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Iga Świątek has progressed to the third round of the women’s singles with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 victory on Thursday over American Caty McNally.

Świątek, ranked No. 4 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), will face American Danielle Collins for a spot in the last 16.

The 24-year-old is the last Polish woman standing in the singles at the All England Club.
