Świątek climbed one spot following her victory over Amanda Anisimova of the United States in the 2025 Wimbledon women’s singles final. Belarus’s Aryna Sabalenka remains at number one, with American Cori Gauff in second place.

Other Polish players in the rankings include Magdalena Fręch at 24th, Magda Linette up to 28th, Katarzyna Kawa at 115th, Maja Chwalińska at 145th and Linda Klimovičová in 212th position.

Diplomatic applause for Świątek’s Wimbledon win

“Different countries have different rackets, but ours is the best,” Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski commented on his X account (formerly Twitter).

The head of Polish diplomacy was referring to tennis as he shared a photo of a triumphant Iga Świątek holding her trophy, which she received from Britain’s Catherine, Princess of Wales, after winning the 2025 Wimbledon Championships women’s singles final against Amanda Anisimova of the United States.

The US Embassy in Warsaw also reacted to the Polish star’s Wimbledon victory, admitting it had lost a lighthearted bet with the Polish Embassy in Washington over the outcome of the women’s final between Poland’s Iga Świątek and America’s Amanda Anisimova.

After Świątek’s emphatic 6–0, 6–0 win, a US Embassy spokesperson agreed to eat strawberry pasta - one of Świątek’s favorite dishes - instead of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which would have been served if Anisimova had triumphed.

Poland’s Świątek celebrates victory in dresses by Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney

On Sunday, Iga Świątek appeared in the Royal Box on Centre Court for a commemorative photo session. The Polish tennis star wore a blue dress with a draped waist by British designer Victoria Beckham, formerly a member of the pop group the Spice Girls.

Later, during the traditional Champions’ Dinner, Świątek chose a satin gown in “pearl blue” from the Stella McCartney Sphere collection. She shared photos on Instagram dancing with Jannik Sinner at the celebration.

In men’s singles, Sinner became the first Italian to win Wimbledon, defeating two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in four sets and avenging his French Open loss last month.
