The match, played in the central Polish city of Łódź, came a day after Poland fell to Italy 0-3 in the semifinals.

Team captain Agnieszka Korneluk praised her squad’s determination after Sunday's victory.

“We showed energy, anger and character in front of our home crowd to secure this medal," she said. "Of course, there’s still a little pain from yesterday’s loss to Italy, but now it's time to celebrate. We’re incredibly happy with this bronze."

This marks Poland’s third straight third-place finish in the competition, following bronze medals in 2022 and 2023.

In Sunday’s first-place match, defending champions Italy defeated Brazil 3-1 to claim the gold.

Looking ahead, Korneluk said the team will now turn its focus to the world championships in Thailand, the key tournament of the season, which begins on August 22.
