Swimming: Poland’s Katarzyna Wasick finishes eighth at World Aquatics Championships

Polish swimmer Katarzyna Wasick placeded eighth in the women’s 50m freestyle final on Sunday at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, recording a time of 24.74 seconds.

Australia’s Meg Harris took gold with a time of 24.02 seconds, while Chinese swimmers Wu Qingfeng and Cheng Yujie claimed silver and bronze with times of 24.26 and 24.28 seconds, respectively.

Wasick, 33, is a seasoned competitor with two World Championship medals to her name — a silver from 2022 and a bronze from 2024, both in the same event.

Poland wraps up World Championships with one medal in Singapore

Earlier on Sunday, Poland’s Ksawery Masiuk narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in the men’s 50m backstroke, just 0.34 seconds behind the podium.

Poland ended the championships with a single medal. On Wednesday, 30 July, swimmer Krzysztof Chmielewski won silver in the men’s 200m butterfly, setting a new national record of 1:52.64.
