The 21-year-old rider from the Soudal Quick-Step cycling team outsprinted Britain’s Ben Turner and Germany’s Tim Torn Teutenberg to win the 201.4 km stage from the southern city of Rybnik to Cieszyn on the Czech border.

Fellow Frenchman Paul Lapeira held on to the yellow jersey, maintaining his overall lead in the general classification.

Poland’s top finisher, Stanisław Aniołkowski, crossed the line in sixth place.

There were no major changes in the overall standings.

Lapeira leads Monaco’s Victor Langellotti by eight seconds, with Switzerland’s Jan Christen 12 seconds back.

Poland’s Rafał Majka, the 2014 Tour de Pologne champion, sits in eighth, 14 seconds off the lead.

Majka is racing in what he has said are the final weeks of his professional career.

The race continues on Friday with the longest stage of the week—a 206.1 km leg from Katowice to the Tatra mountain resort of Zakopane.
