The Polish world No. 3 dispatched the 54th-ranked Romanian 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 16 on Wednesday.
The third-seeded Pole will now face Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya for a place in the semifinals.
Świątek, who had a first-round bye, defeated Russia’s Anastasia Potapova 6-1, 6-4 in the second round, then advanced to the last 16 with a walkover against Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk, who withdrew due to a wrist injury.
Earlier on Wednesday, Poland’s 31st seed Magda Linette also reached the quarterfinals, upsetting fourth-seeded American Jessica Pegula 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.
Linette will play Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova for a spot in the last four.
The Cincinnati Open, also known as the Western & Southern Open, is a key warm-up for the US Open, which begins on August 24.
Świątek will be bidding for her seventh Grand Slam title in New York.
