The third-seeded Pole defeated the world No. 28, 6-3, 6-4 in Friday’s quarterfinals. Świątek will next face either top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus or Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina for a place in the final.
Świątek, a former world No. 1, is making her third consecutive semifinal appearance in Cincinnati but has yet to reach the title match. Last year, she was eliminated by Sabalenka in the last four.
Earlier in the tournament, Poland’s Magda Linette (31st seed) exited in the round of 16, while Magdalena Fręch and Katarzyna Kawa fell in earlier stages.
The Cincinnati Open, also known as the Western & Southern Open, serves as a key warm-up for the US Open, which starts in New York on August 24.
