The Italian pair successfully defended the title they won in New York last year.

In the semifinals, Świątek and Ruud edged American Jessica Pegula and Britain’s Jack Draper 3-5, 5-3, 10-8, while Errani and Vavassori defeated Americans Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison 4-2, 4-2.

Świątek and Ruud began their campaign with straight-set wins over Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe, and later over Caty McNally and Lorenzo Musetti, both by 4-1, 4-2 scores.

This year, the mixed doubles competition in New York was held during US Open qualifying week rather than alongside the singles competition. Organizers said the change was aimed at raising the event's profile and attracting top players.

Matches used a faster format. Each set was played to four games instead of six, and at 40–40 the next point decided the game. If the score reached 4–4, a tiebreak was played. If the match went to a deciding set, it was settled by a first-to-10 super tiebreak.

Only the final followed the traditional six-game set format, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The singles competition in New York begins on Sunday.

Earlier this week, Świątek defeated Italy’s Jasmine Paolini 7-5, 6-4 to capture her first Cincinnati Open singles title.
