The match is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. local time (5:30 p.m. in Poland).
Arango, 24, is ranked 84th in the world and has only one Grand Slam win to her name — at this year’s French Open. Her career-high ranking is No. 76.
Iga Świątek could reclaim WTA top spot with US Open win
Świątek, seeded second, won the US Open in 2022 and is meeting Arango for the first time.
If she wins the title in New York, and current world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka fails to reach the quarter-finals, Świątek could reclaim the top spot in the WTA rankings.
Another title contender, world No. 3 Coco Gauff, will also play on Tuesday against Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic.
Polish tresults from the opening rounds
Elsewhere in the tournament, Poland’s Magdalena Fręch (seeded 28) and Kamil Majchrzak advanced to the second round on Monday, while Magda Linette exited in the opening round on Sunday.
