The third-seeded American advanced with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Croatia’s Donna Vekic on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, the 28th-seeded Fręch rallied past American Peyton Stearns 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the third round in New York for the first time.
Saturday’s match will be the third meeting between the 28-year-old Polish player and the 21-year-old Gauff.
The American has won both previous encounters in straight sets, including at last year’s Australian Open and in Rome.
Fręch joins fellow Poles Iga Świątek and Kamil Majchrzak in the third round.
The 2025 US Open runs until September 8.
