Coached by Igor Miličić, Poland reached the semifinals in Berlin three years ago after wins over Ukraine and Slovenia.

This year, the Poles advanced to the quarterfinals with Sunday’s victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Turkey, making its 26th appearance at the European championships, is unbeaten in the tournament and considered among the favourites after the early exits of defending champions Spain, 2022 silver medalists France and world runner-ups Serbia.

The two nations have met nine times in EuroBasket play, with Poland holding a 7-2 advantage. But Tuesday’s matchup is expected to be a tough test, led by Turkey’s star forward Alperen Şengün of the Houston Rockets.

“All the teams are playing tired at this stage,” said Poland centre Dominik Olejniczak. “Whoever finds more energy in the second half will come out on top. We’ll have to fight until the last minute.”

The game tips off at 4 p.m. local time in Riga, Latvia.
