Coached by Igor Miličić, Poland had reached the last eight after an 80-72 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday but failed to repeat their 2022 EuroBasket success, when they advanced to the semifinals.
Naturalized American guard Jordan Loyd and captain Mateusz Ponitka each scored 19 points against Turkey, while Michał Sokołowski added 13.
Poland struggled on the boards, allowing Turkey to score on fast breaks, and committed too many turnovers to stay in the game, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
This year’s EuroBasket group stage was jointly hosted by Poland, Finland and Cyprus, with the knockout rounds taking place in Riga, Latvia.
Poland finished fourth at the 2022 tournament, which was staged in the Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy and Germany.
