The Poles, ranked No. 1 in the world, beat the Netherlands 3-1 on Wednesday to complete Group B play with three wins.

Earlier, they posted straight-set victories over Romania and Qatar.

Poland, winners of this year’s Nations League and silver medalists at the Tokyo Olympics, are among the favourites to win the title.

They are seeking to reclaim the world crown they lost in 2022, when Italy beat them in the final.

Poland have won the world championship three times: in 1974, 2014 and 2018.

Their round-of-16 match against Canada is scheduled for Saturday.
