Poland will face the Netherlands at Warsaw’s National Stadium on Friday, before wrapping up their qualifying campaign against Malta in Ta’ Qali three days later.
Coach Jan Urban last week released a list of 26 players called up for the two games.
Since then three of the players, goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski, defender Jan Bednarek and striker Krzysztof Piątek, have succumbed to injuries and will not be available for international duty, state news agency PAP reported.
Poland last month month defeated Lithuania 2-0 in Kaunas in their sixth World Cup qualifier.
With two rounds remaining, Poland sit second in their qualifying Group G with 13 points—three behind leaders the Netherlands and three ahead of Finland, who have played one more game.
The group winner will qualify directly for the World Cup, while the runner-up will advance to the two-stage playoffs.
Poland are ranked 33rd worldwide by FIFA, while the Netherlands are No. 6 and Malta hold the No. 166 spot.
The World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico, featuring 48 teams—16 more than in Qatar in 2022.
Poland reached the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar before being eliminated by eventual runners-up France.
