Kubica’s Le Mans triumph nominated for Autosport’s “Moment of the Year”

Robert Kubica’s victory at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans — hailed by Polish fans as the greatest day in the country’s motorsport history — is now in the running for Autosport’s prestigious “Moment of the Year” award.

The magazine highlights Kubica’s decisive role in AF Corse Ferrari’s triumph and his long road back to elite racing after his 2011 accident.

Six other moments are nominated, including Lando Norris’s British GP win in Formula 1 and the Marquez brothers’ one-two MotoGP championship finish. Voting is underway.

Robert Kubica took the chequered flag in his bright yellow "privateer" Ferrari to give the Italian marque a third consecutive win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Sunday.Driving for the AF Corse team, Kubica won in the prestigious Hypercar category.

In a thrilling 93rd edition of the race, which saw the top four separated by just over 20 seconds going into the final 15 minutes, Kubica and his co-drivers Philip Hanson and Ye Yifei finished just 14.084sec ahead of a Porsche  driven by Kevin Estre, Matt Campbell and Laurens Vanthoor.
