Polish ski jumpers enjoyed a top-ten finish for the first time this season. Furthermore, for the 18 year old Tomasiak Sunday's fifth place in Wisła was the biggest success of his career so far.
Slovenia's Domen Prevc championed the event - and Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi, who won the first round, finished second overall.
Prevc landed on 137 and 132 metres, earning 282.3 points. Runner-up Kobayashi was 0.9 points behind the winner after jumping 130.5 and 129.5 metres. The Japanese athlete reached the World Cup competition podium for the 74th time in his career. Germany's Philipp Raimund finished third, with 131.5 and 129 metre jumps which earned him 276.8 points.
Poland's Tomasiak jumped 129.5 and 125 metres for 270.3 points - and Żyła got 268.4 points from 129.5 and 125 metre jumps.
Following Sunday's victory, Prevc has 470 points and is the new leader in the World Cup 2025-2026 general classification. His compatriot Anze Lanisek is second with 438 points, and Kobayashi is third with 406. Tomasiak is the highest-ranked Pole so far, as with 124 points he secured 14th place for now.
The Austrians lead the Nations Cup standings with 1337 points, ahead of Slovenia with 1197, Japan with 1028, and Germany with 840. The Polish team scored 403 points, and on Sunday they moved up to fifth place overtaking Norway.
The next men's and women's World Cup ski jumping competitions are scheduled to take place on December 13 and 14 in Klingenthal, Germany.
