The match in Melbourne lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The Australian Open remains the only Grand Slam tournament Świątek has yet to win.

Her best results in Melbourne are semifinal appearances in 2022 and 2025.

The Polish star has won six Grand Slam titles overall—four at the French Open and one each at the US Open and Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, countryman Jan Zieliński advanced to the semifinals of the men’s doubles alongside Britain’s Luke Johnson.

The fourth-seeded Polish-British pair defeated Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and Mate Pavić of Croatia 7-6, 6-2.

Zieliński is the only Polish player still in contention at Melbourne Park.

In the semifinals, Zieliński and Johnson will face Australian wild-card entrants Jason Kubler and Marc Polmans for a place in the championship match.

In 2023, Zieliński reached the Australian Open doubles final with Hugo Nyse of Monaco.

The 2026 Australian Open runs until February 1.
