Among the standout athletes is reigning European indoor champion Jakub Szymański, who recently lowered his national record in the men’s 60m hurdles to 7.37 seconds—the third-fastest time ever by a European.

The mark also matches the world-leading time this season, shared by Americans Dylan Beard and Trey Cunningham.

Poland will also look to European champion Natalia Bukowiecka in the women’s 400m. It will be her first appearance at a major indoor championships since 2022.

Bukowiecka is also set to compete in the women’s 4x400m relay alongside a strong Polish lineup that includes Justyna Święty-Ersetic and Anastazja Kuś, both part of the team that won silver at last year’s World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing.

In the women’s 60m, Ewa Swoboda is expected to challenge for a medal. She won silver in 2022 and recently clocked a season’s best of 7.07 seconds at the Polish indoor championships on the same track in Toruń.

Pia Skrzyszowska will aim for another podium finish in the women’s 60m hurdles after winning bronze in 2022 and placing fourth last year in Nanjing, where she set a Polish record of 7.74 seconds.

Other notable members of the Polish team include world high jump silver medallist Maria Żodzik, European indoor 800m champion Anna Wielgosz, and pentathlete Adrianna Sułek-Schubert.

The championships run through Sunday.
