"I am very grateful to Nico for all the dedication, hard work and time we spent together during the most challenging times in my career. We have decided to move on, and go our separate ways,” Hurkacz wrote on social media.
The 29-year-old Pole exited in the first round of the Miami Open last week, marking his seventh consecutive defeat, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Since losing in the second round of the Australian Open in January, Hurkacz has been eliminated in his opening matches in Montpellier, Rotterdam, Dubai and Indian Wells, as well as at a lower-tier event in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic, marking the worst run of his professional career.
Hurkacz had been working with Massú, 46, since November 2024, after parting ways with American coach Craig Boynton.
Massú is a former Olympic champion, having won gold medals in the men's singles and doubles at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Their biggest joint success was reaching the final of the Geneva Open in May last year, where Hurkacz lost to Serbian ace Novak Djokovic.
Hurkacz, a former world No. 6, missed much of the second half of last year due to injury but returned at the start of 2026, helping Poland win the United Cup.
His form has since declined, and he is currently ranked No. 75 in the world.
Separately, Poland’s top female player Iga Świątek announced on Monday that she had ended her partnership with Belgian coach Wim Fissette.
