The 34-year-old sportsman and stuntman set off from the clock level of the Palace of Culture and Science, finishing on the 43rd-floor terrace of Varso Tower.

The slackline he walked on was just 19mm wide, and the exact height at which he travelled varied throughout the crossing as the strap stretched.

Roose wore a harness and safety line throughout.

Organisers said the event was prepared using the best available safety systems.

Roose has completed similar feats elsewhere, including crossings of the Strait of Messina and the Bosphorus.
