The match was played in Bielsko-Biała, southern Poland, with Colombia advancing after Martyna Bartczak scored an own goal in the dying minutes.

The Polish team, coached by Marcin Kasprowicz, had reached the knockout stage after a perfect group campaign, beating Argentina 3-0, Mexico 2-1 and Benin 4-1.

Poland is hosting the tournament for the first time, while the Polish team was making its debut in the competition.

The Under-20 Women's World Cup has been held every two years since 2002. It initially featured 12 teams before expanding to 16 and then 24.

The 24 teams were divided into six groups of four, with the top two teams in each group and the four best third-place teams advancing to the round of 16.

The final is scheduled for September 27 in Łódź, central Poland. Katowice and Sosnowiec are the other host cities.

The United States, Germany and North Korea have each won the title three times. North Korea won the previous tournament, held in Colombia in 2024.
