Świątek beat Vekić 4-6, 7-6 (7-0), 6-2 in the third round of the women's singles in the Chinese capital on Monday, coming back from 2-5 down in the second set, public broadcaster Polish Radio's IAR news agency reported.
The 25-year-old Pole won four consecutive games to force a tie-breaker, which she dominated, winning it without dropping a point.
Świątek maintained control in the deciding set and emerged victorious.
She will next face American Iva Jovic for a place in the quarterfinals of the hard-court tournament.

The 2026 China Open in Beijing runs until Tuesday for the men's ATP 500 event and through Sunday for the women's WTA 1000 event.
