Volleyball: Poland beat Germany in post-lockdown friendly

World champions Poland have defeated Germany in their first international volleyball match after a pause due to the coronavirus.

The Poles, managed by Belgian coach Vital Heynen, won 3-2 in the friendly encounter in the western Polish city of Zielona Góra on Wednesday.

The match was played behind closed doors amid the COVID-19 pandemic, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

The two national men’s teams are scheduled to face off again in Zielona Góra on Thursday evening.

Poland in October finished runners-up in the men's volleyball World Cup in Japan.

In 2018, the Polish team defended its world championship title
