Poland captain Lewandowski, who plays for German side Bayern Munich, earned a total of USD 28 million last year, Forbes said: USD 24 million in wages and USD 4 million from additional sources such as advertising contracts.
The world highest-paid player last year was Argentinian Lionel Messi, the Barcelona captain, who earned a total of USD 126 million, according to Forbes.
In second place was Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Italy’s Juventus. He earned USD 117 million in 2019, the magazine said.
Brazilian Neymar, who plays for French side Paris Saint-Germain, took home USD 96 million, according to Forbes.
