“I’m not in a state to say much. Shock, shock, shock ... I have no words, I'm choked,” Zbigniew Boniek was cited as saying by Poland’s onet.pl website.

Boniek, a famous former Poland football player, added: “For me, Diego was the best footballer in the world ever. Simply a genius.”

Maradona died on Wednesday at the age of 60 after a heart attack at his home in Buenos Aires.

Maradona, who captained Argentina when it won the World Cup in 1986, had been battling with health issues.

He underwent surgery on a blood clot in his brain earlier this month.
