Jędrzejczyk hasn’t competed since March 2020, when she lost to China’s Weili Zhang, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)’s then reigning champion, by split decision in Las Vegas.

She announced her comeback in an interview with the internet TV channel, Kanał Sportowy, saying: “Everyone thought I was no longer in UFC - I’m still there but I’m not ranked because I haven’t fought for many months.”

“I am coming back and I am taking on the number one,” the Polish fighter stated. “In all likelihood it will be Weili Zhang,” she added.

Jędrzejczyk revealed UFC had offered her a fight for a championship belt, but she preferred to return inside the octagon soon, rather than wait for the championship bout until the end of the year.

Thus it seems she will be back in UFC action within the next few months, the onet.pl website reported.

Jędrzejczyk, 34, was champion from March 2015 to November 2017, when she lost her UFC strawweight title in a bout against Rose Namajunas of the United States.

The Pole in April 2018 failed to recapture her strawweight belt in a rematch with Namajunas.
