Tennis: Iga Świątek to face Caty McNally in Ostrava

Poland’s world No. 1 Iga Świątek will clash against American Caty McNally in the quarterfinals of the Ostrava Open tennis tournament in the Czech Republic on Friday.

McNally, who is ranked world No. 151 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), on Thursday defeated home favourite Karolina Muchova 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 in the second round in Ostrava to set up a clash with the Polish star.

The 21-year-old Pole on Wednesday saw off Australian Ajla Tomljanović, who retired in the second set due to a knee injury, trailing 5-7, 2-2 in their second-round match.

Świątek, who is the top seed in the tournament, had a bye in the first round.

The Polish player last month won the US Open, claiming her seventh title this year.
