The agreement expired on December 31, the Przegląd Sportowy newspaper said on its website.

In addition, PKN Orlen had been the sponsor of the Polish Tennis Association (PZT). That contract will not be renewed either, according to Przegląd Sportowy

PKN Orlen took over the sponsorship of Hurkacz and the Polish Tennis Association after acquiring the original sponsors, the Lotos oil company, in August last year, news outlets reported.

In the summer, the conglomerate decided to withdraw from sponsoring tennis players, Przegląd Sportowy reported.

At the same time, PKN Orlen has continued to sponsor footballers and ski jumpers, officials told the businessinsider.com.pl website.

PKN Orlen’s decision not to renew the sponsorship deals with Hurkacz and the PZT comes at a time of unprecedented success for Polish tennis, the sport.pl website reported, with Iga Świątek leading the women's WTA rankings, Hurkacz positioned just outside the men's ATP top 10, and Magda Linette powering into the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and the WTA top 30.

In the autumn, the Polish Tennis Association was rocked by a sexual harassment scandal that led to the resignation of the association’s CEO, Mirosław Skrzypczyński, bankier.pl noted.
