The Poland Darts Masters event has been announced by the sport’s biggest organisation, the UK-based Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), public broadcaster Polish Radio’s polskieradio24.pl website has reported.

Billed as Poland’s biggest-ever darts tournament, the Poland Darts Masters will take place at Warsaw’s Torwar Arena on July 7 and 8, officials said.

World champions to compete in Poland

The 16-player knockout event will see eight of the PDC's top players, led by current world champion Michael Smith of England, compete against eight of the best players from Eastern Europe, including four contestants from Poland, polskieradio24.pl reported.

The PDC elite will include the 2018 world champion, Rob Cross of England, the 2021 champion, Gerwyn Price of Wales, and three-time champion Michael van Gerwen of the Netherlands, according to officials.

Meanwhile, among the eight Eastern European competitors will be Poland’s number one Krzysztof Ratajski, as well as countrymen Krzysztof Kciuk and Radosław Szagański, and the winner of a national qualifying tournament to be held on July 1.

Also taking part will be two players from the Czech Republic and one each from Croatia and Hungary, polskieradio24.pl reported.

World Series of Darts

The Poland Darts Masters completes the set of six tournaments that make up the PDC’s 2023 World Series of Darts schedule, the organisation said.

It will be the fourth World Series of Darts event to be staged this year, after tournaments in Bahrain and Copenhagen, Denmark, in January, and the US Darts Masters event scheduled for June in New York.

In August, the world's best darts players will head Down Under for two more World Series events, in New Zealand and Australia, according to polskieradio24.pl.

In September, a 24-player World Series of Darts Finals tournament will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the PDC said.
