The Polish tennis ace on Saturday defeated Karolína Muchová of the Czech Republic 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the final of the French Open tournament in Paris, claiming her fourth Grand Slam trophy and winning her 14th career singles title.

Świątek, coached by countryman Tomasz Wiktorowski, has topped the Women's Tennis Association's (WTA) world rankings since April 4, 2022.

The 22-year-old now leads the world rankings with 8,940 points, ahead of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka with 8,012 points, and Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina with 5,090 points.

Świątek enters the grass-court season with a comfortable lead over Sabalenka and no points to defend, according to the WTA.

The second-highest ranked Polish player, Magda Linette, retained her No. 21 spot in the latest WTA rankings.

Meanwhile, countrywoman Magdalena Fręch, who reached the second round of this year's French Open, moved up from 88th to a career-high 77th place in the new WTA rankings, which were released on Monday.
