The Polish top seed rolled past the 129th-ranked Swiss player 6-3, 6-1 in one hour and 20 minutes in the second round of the women's singles on Wednesday, news outlets reported.

Świątek will now face Russia's Anna Blinkova for a place in the semifinals.

The Polish player on Monday started her 65th week at the top of the Women's Tennis Association's (WTA) world rankings, with a 874-point lead over Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.

The 22-year-old Pole on Monday defeated home favourite Tatjana Maria in the first round of the Bad Homburg Open to win her first grass-court match of the season.

Świątek had entered the grass-court season with a comfortable lead over Sabalenka and no points to defend, according to the WTA.

The Polish tennis ace this month defeated Karolína Muchová of the Czech Republic 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the final of the French Open tournament in Paris, claiming her fourth Grand Slam trophy and winning her 14th career singles title.

Świątek, coached by countryman Tomasz Wiktorowski, has topped the WTA world rankings since April 4, 2022.
