The 26-year-old Pole on Monday saw off the 35-year-old Spaniard 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the men's singles at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament in the British capital.
Hurkacz, who is currently ranked world No. 18 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), will next face Britain's Jan Choinski.
The Polish player, who is coached by American Craig Boynton, in February earned his sixth career singles title by winning the Marseille Open indoor hard-court tournament in France.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Iga Świątek has progressed to the second round of the women's singles at Wimbledon with a 6-1, 6-3 win on Monday over China's Lin Zhu.
