The 24-year-old, who rides for the EF Education-EasyPost cycling team, on Wednesday finished ahead of Slovenia's Matej Mohorič and Portugal's João Almeida in the annual race's 198.8 km fifth leg between the town of Pszczyna, in Poland's southern Silesia region, and the southern city of Bielsko-Biała near the Czech and Slovak borders.

The fastest Pole, Michał Kwiatkowski, finished fourth in Bielsko-Biała on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Mohorič, who won the second stage of the 2023 Tour de Pologne three days earlier, retained the race leader’s yellow jersey.

The sixth leg of the 80th Tour de Pologne will see cyclists compete in a 16.6 km time trial in the southern city of Katowice on Thursday.

Riders from 24 teams based in various countries are taking part in the seven-stage 1,130 km race, which will end in the historic city of Kraków on Friday.
