The Polish star leads the world standings on 9,490 points, ahead of Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus on 8,845 points, and Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina on 5465 points, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) announced.

Świątek’s 71-week reign so far, which began on April 4, 2022, is the 10th longest in history, the sportowefakty.wp.pl website reported.

On July 30, Świątek defeated Laura Siegemund of Germany 6-0, 6-1 in the final of the Poland Open tournament in Warsaw, claiming her 15th career singles title.

She will now contest the National Bank Open tournament in Montréal, Canada, which also features Sabalenka and Rybakina, the tennis.com website reported.

After receiving a bye in the first round, Świątek will face either Lin Zhu of China (the world no. 38) or Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic (the world no. 23) in round two on Wednesday, according to news outlets.

Meanwhile, Poland’s second-highest ranked player, the world No. 25 Magda Linette, was set to play the world No. 19 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in the first round in Montréal on Monday night, WTA said.
