The 26-year-old, ranked world No. 20 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), defeated Croatia's defending champion Borna Ćorić 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the second round of the men’s singles on Wednesday.
The Polish player will next face Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas for a place in the quarterfinals at the hard-court tournament in Cincinnati.
The Western & Southern Open tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio, also known as the Cincinnati Open or Cincinnati Masters, is for many top tennis players the final warm-up before the US Open Grand Slam event, which begins on August 28.
