US Open: Poland’s Świątek into 3rd round of women’s singles

Poland’s world No. 1 Iga Świątek has advanced to the third round of the women’s singles competition at the US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament in New York.

The 22-year-old Pole defeated Australian Daria Saville 6-3, 6-4 in their second-round encounter at Flushing Meadows on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Poland's world No. 77 Magdalena Fręch crashed out of the hard-court tournament in New York after losing 3-6, 3-6 to the Czech Republic's Karolína Muchová in the second round on Wednesday.
