Volleyball: Poland crowned European champions

Poland have won the Men's 2023 European Volleyball Championship after beating Italy 3-0 in the final in Rome on Saturday night.

The Polish team defeated the hosts and defending champions in straight sets, 25:21, 25:20, 25:23, in Rome’s Palazzo dello Sport, public broadcaster TVP Sport reported. 

The Poles, who are one of the world's strongest teams, won all their games at the EuroVolley 2023 tournament.

The Polish team, managed by Serbian coach Nikola Grbić, were rewarded with their second European title after being crowned champions in 2009.

The Poles won the bronze at the 2021 EuroVolley tournament.

Poland won world championship titles in 2014 and 2018 and finished runners-up last year.

Earlier this year, Grbić's men won the Volleyball Nations League.

The 2023 Men's EuroVolley championships were jointly hosted by Italy, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Israel.
