The 26-year-old, ranked world No. 17 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), defeated Australia's Thanasi Kokkinakis 7-6, 6-4 in the second round of the men's singles on Friday.
The Polish player, who had a bye in the first round, will next face Taiwan's Yu Hsiou Hsu.
The 2023 Shanghai Masters runs until October 15.
