Speed skating: World Cup gold for Poland in Quebec

Poland has claimed the gold in the men’s team sprint at the long-track speed skating World Cup in Quebec City, Canada.

The Polish team of Marek Kania, Piotr Michalski and Damian Żurek clocked in at 1:18.71, finishing 0.09 seconds faster than Norway and 0.1 seconds ahead of the United States.

The US team won the overall World Cup title for the season, while the Poles finished runners-up.

Less than an hour earlier, Poland's Kania finished second and countryman Michalski was third in the 500m individual event.

Poland also took silver in the women’s team sprint in Quebec City.

The final World Cup stop in Quebec City will be followed by the world championships in Calgary from February 15 to 18.
