Poles win medals at Wheelchair Fencing European Championships in Paris

Polish competitors have won seven medals—three gold, one silver and three bronze—at the Wheelchair Fencing European Championships, which ended in Paris on Sunday.

Poland’s Kinga Dróżdż took the gold in the women's sabre category A event, defeating Georgia's Nino Geo Tbilashvili in the final, according to the Polish Sports Association for the Disabled (PZSN).

Meanwhile, the Polish team of Dróżdż, Marta Fidrych, Karolina Strawińska and Patrycja Haręza won the gold in the women's épée competition.

Poland's Adrian Castro grabbed the gold in the men’s sabre category B event.

The silver medal for Poland came from the team of Dróżdż, Fidrych, Strawińska and Jadwiga Pacek in the women's sabre competition.

Meanwhile, Strawińska and Fidrych each won a bronze medal in individual sabre events.

Strawińska earned another bronze for Poland in the women's épée category B event.

With its medal count, Poland finished third in the overall standings of the 2024 Wheelchair Fencing European Championships, which were held in Paris from March 5 to 10.

Ukraine finished top of the medals table, with a total of 18 medals, including seven gold, while Britain finished second, with five golds, two silvers and one bronze.
