Bronze for Poland at European fencing championships

Poland’s Julia Walczyk-Klimaszczyk has won a bronze medal at the European Fencing Championships in Basel, Switzerland.

The Pole tied for third place with Britain's Carolina Stutchbury in the women’s individual foil competition on Wednesday.

Italy's Arianna Errigo grabbed the gold, while the silver went to Dariia Myroniuk of Ukraine.

Last year, Walczyk-Klimaszczyk won a gold medal at the European Games in her home country.

Poland has won a total of 86 medals, including 17 gold, at European fencing championships since such tournaments began in 1981, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
