The 26-year-old competitor, a member of the Cofidis cycling team, suffered spinal fractures after hitting a concrete culvert by the road during the third stage of the race from the southwestern Polish city of Wałbrzych to the spa town of Duszniki-Zdrój.
Debeaumarché veered off the road on a downhill slope 54 km before the finish line on Wednesday, according to officials.
At the time of the accident, Debeaumarché was part of a 10-strong breakaway group, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The race organizers said in a statement on Thursday that "cycling is a sport in which riders are exposed to various risks, regardless of the level of safety measures put in place along the route."
"This has always been, is and will continue to be, the case," they added.
"During the third stage of the Tour de Pologne, an accident occurred in which the French cyclist Nicolas Debeaumarche suffered the most significant injuries," the statement said.
"The immediate assistance provided by the race’s medical services was of the highest standard. The swift response, along with the professionalism of the doctors at the Polanica-Zdrój hospital, where the rider was immediately taken after the accident, was emphasized by the doctor of the Cofidis team, for whom Debeaumarche rides," it added.
The Tour de Pologne organizers also said in their statement that "the rider is experiencing spinal issues, but he is conscious, and his condition is stable."
"It is likely that he will be transported to Paris in the near future, where further treatment will be conducted," the statement said.
Race director Czesław Lang said, as quoted in the statement: “I have just returned from the hospital, where I spoke with the doctors who attended to Nicolas. I sincerely thank them all for their quick and professional help and care."
The Cofidis team said that Debeaumarché was taken to hospital after the crash. It added that the rider "suffers from vertebral fractures and was hospitalized."
This year's 81st Tour de Pologne is 1,050 km long and runs until Sunday.
In 2019, Belgian cyclist Bjorg Lambrecht died after hitting a road culvert during the third leg of the 76th Tour de Pologne from Chorzów to Zabrze in the south of Poland.
