The 26-year-old, who on Wednesday stunned American Marcos Giron and scored 11 aces in the first round of the ATP 500 tournament in Tokyo, shared the news on social media.

"Starting today and until the end of the season, I will be donating 100€ for every ace I hit to support those affected by the devastating floods in Poland," Hurkacz wrote. "For me, sport is not just a competition, but also a platform to drive impact."

In 2023, Hurkacz joined an exclusive group of players who have recorded over 1,000 aces in an ATP Tour season.

Severe floods hit Central Europe

Recent floods have impacted Poland and neighboring countries in Central Europe, causing significant damage and fatalities. Areas near the Polish-Czech border have been particularly affected, with widespread destruction to infrastructure, homes, and agriculture.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the government would mobilize up to PLN 23 billion (EUR 5.39 billion) to address the aftermath of the floods. Portions of these funds are expected to come from the European Union.

The floods are considered the most severe natural disaster to hit the region since 1997, when extensive flooding caused significant damage in cities like Wrocław, Hurkacz's hometown.

From Romania to Poland, the floods have left a trail of destruction in Central Europe, inundating towns, damaging bridges, and leaving authorities and homeowners facing repair costs that could run into billions of euros.
