Świątek, 23, a former world No. 1, dropped three spots following a quarterfinal exit from the tournament in Rome, where she was the defending champion.
The loss cost her 935 ranking points.
WTA Rankings Roundup, May 19, 2025
Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka remains at the top with 10,683 points, ahead of American Coco Gauff, now ranked second.
Jessica Pegula rose to a career-high third, followed by Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in fourth - also her best ranking to date. Świątek sits 27 points behind Paolini.
Russia’s Mirra Andreeva also reached a new career high at sixth, overtaking Madison Keys.
Poland’s Magdalena Fręch, meanwhile, kept her 25th place, while countrywoman Magda Linette slipped one spot to 33rd. This leaves Linette just outside the seeded positions for the upcoming French Open - unless a higher-ranked player withdraws.
Świątek will begin her title defense at Roland Garros this weekend, where she must defend 2,000 ranking points. A loss there could further impact her standing.
