Tennis: Poland’s Hurkacz through to Geneva quarterfinals

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Geneva Open tennis tournament in Switzerland, with a straight-set win over Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech.

The 28-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 31 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), dispatched Rinderknech 6-4, 6-1 in the second round on Wednesday.

The sixth-seeded Polish player will now take on American top-seed Taylor Fritz for a place in the semifinals.

Hurkacz is playing for his eighth career singles title in Geneva.

The clay-court tournament runs until Saturday.
