Speaking at the opening of a women's soccer tournament in the country’s southeast last month, Nawrocka said the participants' "passion, energy and fighting spirit prove that football is not only a male domain."

“You are an example of ambition, determination and true team strength," she told players at the Podkarpackie Women’s Football Festival in the southeastern city of Tarnobrzeg.

Nawrocka, who became Poland's first lady on August 6, highlighted the rapid growth of women’s soccer in the country and said that sport fosters not only competition but also "friendship, joy, comradeship and powerful emotions," according to the president’s office.

Teams from across the region and beyond took part in the Tarnobrzeg tournament, representing clubs training girls and women across age groups, from youth to seniors, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

“I wish you great goals, beautiful emotions and the fulfillment of your sporting dreams,” Nawrocka told players.

Those remarks marked Nawrocka’s first official public engagement as first lady, the PAP news agency reported.
