Poland is the only country to have four teams in this year’s competition, the third-tier European tournament behind the Champions League and Europa League, according to local media.

No other nation has more than two clubs, state news agency PAP reported.

In the opening round, Lech will host Austria’s Rapid Vienna, Raków takes on Romania’s Universitatea Craiova, Legia faces Turkey’s Samsunspor, and Jagiellonia meets Malta’s Hamrun Spartans.

The matches in Poznań and Białystok kick off at 6:45 p.m. local time, while the games in Sosnowiec, Raków’s temporary home, and Warsaw start at 9 p.m.

The Conference League’s group stage features 36 clubs, each playing six games—three home, three away—against different opponents.

The top eight teams advance directly to the round of 16, while clubs finishing ninth through 24th enter playoff ties.

Among the favorites this season is Italy’s Fiorentina, runner-up in the last two finals.

This year's competition also includes smaller sides such as Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar, Breidablik of Iceland, and Armenia’s FC Noah.

Polish clubs have an incentive beyond prestige. UEFA pays EUR 3.17 million to each team just for reaching the group stage, plus EUR 400,000 per win.

Last season, strong runs by Legia and Jagiellonia, who both reached the quarterfinals, helped secure Poland five places in European competitions for 2026-2027, including two Champions League qualifying berths.

The Conference League final is scheduled for May 27 in Leipzig, Germany.
