Sebastian Szymański opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a rare goal directly from a corner, before captain Robert Lewandowski sealed the win with a close-range header in the 64th.

The match in Kaunas was watched by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his Lithuanian counterpart Inga Ruginienė, who sat side by side in the stands.

The result leaves Poland on 13 points from six games, three behind group leaders the Netherlands, who beat Finland 4–0 earlier on Sunday.
