CIFP President Sunil Sabharwal said the decision recognizes Wawrowska’s long-standing commitment and contribution to promoting fair play in sports, Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita reported.

He also praised Poland's contribution to the global fair play movement in recent decades, the paper said.

Wawrowska, who previously served on the CIFP Council, became one of two vice presidents of the international body.

She has chaired the Polish Olympic Committee's Fair Play Council since 2018 and joined the CIFP Council three years ago.

Wawrowska also served on the board of the European Fair Play Movement from 2021 to 2025.

She said she intends to "continue with even greater determination to promote fair play values around the world," according to Rzeczpospolita.

Founded 62 years ago, the International Fair Play Committee operates under the umbrella of both the United Nations and the Olympic movement.

Since the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, it has presented the annual Fair Play Awards, which honor exemplary conduct and sportsmanship.
